You refer to the "hospitality of Christ," and I think of my own understanding of the good shepherd as a kind and protecting friend. I think shepherding is tough work--it requires some insight. To be cared for with understanding is to be deeply loved by a good friend. So the image works for this vegetarian! It’s nice to read this a week after enjoying the retreat you led at Wisdom House.
