Thank you, Sunrise Sister! Spending a day in a hand-pulled print workshop sounds like a wondrous thing to do during Lent.

Intriguing, isn't it, the relationship between intention and "coincidence"-? I often find myself struck by how, when I work to follow the path that seems to be mine to follow, I encounter occasions of synchronicity---always a reminder that the Spirit is at work in ways I can hardly fathom.

Thanks much for your own words!

Your post quite insightful and helpful to my preaching (http://marshmk.wordpress.com/2009/03/22/watch-for-snakes/ ). I am grateful for your depth of spirit, creativity, and sacred imagination. Thank you. Peace, Mike

After a rich day in a hand-pulled print workshop, I've come to the blogosphere to "feed" a bit and I'm pleased to have stopped by here this evening. Your post was rich with just the right nourishment.

I turned my attention to Lent prior to the season's beginning, with preparation and plans for reading and posts. The season, so far, has not disappointed me but surprised me with how intentional action will bring so many fruitful "accidents" or maybe "coincidences" into one's life in relation to being one of God's children.

I'll be blogging more next week about what some of these surprises have been for me. Thanks as always for your meaningful words!

Many thanks, Lucy; hope you enjoyed your show!

Yes—interesting, the way that the serpent twists and turns in terms of the meanings it takes on in different cultures—mostly negative ones in Judeo-Christianity, but then this serpent story from Numbers & John throws in a wild card and turns our stereotypes on their heads. Just like the Bible (and Jesus) to go and do that…

Thanks again, and thanks for your blog as well. Peace to you.

wonderful post, jan. i will certainly carry the question of "where am i turning my gaze these days" with me into the coming days. ironically, i was taking a break from lots of pondering, etc. to watch one of the only tv shows i watch. while waiting for it to download, i popped over here to read your post. while i am tempted to forego the show and ponder your question, i think i will still take my break :-)

in reading your post, i was reminded of the many cultures who identify the serpent with resurrection and new life...it seems the christian culture (at least the one of my upbringing) always gives the serpent such a bad rap. the possibility of serpent as resurrection seems to tie in nicely with the story of Jesus, Numbers & Nicodemus. hmmm... maybe i'll ponder a little more after "grey's anatomy" :-)
